The book of February for discussion is Red harvest by Dashiell Hammett https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Harvest. It’s a crime novel about corruption and violence in the town of Poisonville set in the times of Prohibition, when alcohol was illegal. I have to say there are too many characters to keep track of but other than that, it is recommendable. You get a real feel for how the main character is drawn into the evil of the town and gets corrupted. Another difficulty for non native speakers is the quantity of Amercian slang used in the story.
